Short CV

 Vasiliki Petousi is faculty member of the Department of Sociology, University of Crete, Director of the Research Laboratory Center for Gender Research and member of the Postgraduate Programs BIOETHICS and Sociology.  Her area of expertise is Sociology of Law and Deviance.She received her PhD in Sociology from the Department of Sociology, Virginia Tech, USA in 1998, her Master's degree from the same University in 1991 and her Law Degree from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1988. Prof. Petousi’s research focuses on issues of research ethics and integrity, bioethics and sociology of law, crime and gender.  Part of her research investigates public perceptions and acceptability of biotechnology and bio-energy applications. She was the Primary Investigator (PI) of the H2020 research project DEFORM: defining the global and financial impact of the research misconduct https://www.deform-h2020.eu/. The project was completed in July 2018 and focused on the social and economic costs of research misconduct. The research continues with funding from national resources.

  1. Petousi serves as an independent expert of research ethics and integrity for the European Commission, the European Research Council Executive Agency (ERCEA) and the Research Executive Agency (REA) since 2010. She is a member of the Ethics Advisory Committees of research project funded through FP7 and H2020. She a member of the Research ethics and integrity committee of Panteion Unsiversity and a deputy member of the Research Ethics and integrity committee of the National Centre for Social Research and the National Technical University of Athens.
