Vasiliki Petousi is an Associate Professor of the Sociology of Law and Deviance at the Department of Sociology of the University of Crete, Director of the Center for Gender Research (Gender Lab) and a member of the Postgraduate Programs BIOETHICS and Sociology.

She received her PhD in Sociology from the Department of Sociology of Virginia Tech, USA in 1998, her Master’s Degree from the same University in 1991, and her Law Degree from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1988.

Prof. Petousi's research focuses on research ethics and research integrity, bioethics, as well as sociology of law, crime and gender. 

She serves as an independent ethics reviewer for the European Commission, the European Research Council Executive Agency (ERCEA) and the Research Executive Agency (REA) since 2010. She is now and has been in the past member of the Ethics Advisory Boards of EU-funded research programs (FP7; H2020). She is the Chair of the Research Ethics Committee (REC) of Hellenic Center for Marine Research, a member of the REC of Panteion University and a deputy member of the RECs of the National Center for Social Research and the National Technical University of Athens.
