Irini Kyriakaki is a lawyer, a graduate of the Law School of the National Kapodistrian University of Athens and holds a postgraduate and doctoral degree from the Law School of the University of Freiburg, Germany, specializing in health law and biology issues.

From 2000 to 2006 he participated in numerous research projects of the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law as a research assistant, as a doctoral fellow and as a research associate. Since 2006 she has been working as a specialist scientist in the Ombudsman, dealing mainly with issues of health, social security and social solidarity.

He is an Alternate Member of the National Committee for the Ethics of Clinical Studies (from 18.9.2017), a member of the National Observatory for Dementia (from 13.7.2020) and an Alternate Member of the Board of the National Transplant Organization (from 12.7.2021). He has also been a member of the Bioethics and Research Ethics Committee of the National School of Public Health (from October 2011 to July 2019).

She is included in the Register of Main Teaching Staff and has been a lecturer in training programs of the Training Institute of the Center and in the course Law of health within the special phase of studies of the department EKDDA in the cycle "administration of health services".

Her scientific interests focus in particular on the protection of humans and the fetus in the context of biomedical research, clinical drug trials, issues of medical ethics and medical liability, the rights of patients / users of health services, the use of stem cells for research and therapeutic purposes, in matters of medically assisted reproduction and research ethics.

Dr. Irini Kyriakaki has written studies, independent contributions to collective volumes and scientific articles in international and Greek scientific journals.
